[Musa (Moses)] said: "O my Lord! Open for me my chest (grant me self-confidence, contentment, and boldness). 25 "And ease my task for me; 26 And loose a knot from my tongue. 27 "So they may understand what I say: 28 And give to me an aider from my family: 29 Harun, my brother. 30 Increase through him my strength 31 "And make him share my task: 32 "That we may glorify You much, 33 And may make mention of Thee oft. 34 You are surely watching over us. 35 He said, “O Moosa, you have been granted your prayer.” 36 Indeed, We showed Our favour to you before also, 37 When We revealed to your mother what was revealed; 38 "'Put him into a chest, then cast it into the river. The river will cast it on to the bank, and there he shall be taken up by an enemy of Mine and his.' I showered My love on you so that you might be reared under My watchful eye. 39 [And We favored you] when your sister went and said, 'Shall I direct you to someone who will be responsible for him?' So We restored you to your mother that she might be content and not grieve. And you killed someone, but We saved you from retaliation and tried you with a [severe] trial. And you remained [some] years among the people of Madyan. Then you came [here] at the decreed time, O Moses. 40 And I have chosen you for Myself: 41 Go, you and your brother, with My signs, and do not be remiss in remembering Me. 42 Go, both of you, to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 43 Both of you must speak with him in a gentle manner so that perhaps he may come to himself or have fear (of God)." 44 The twain said: O our Lord! verily we fear that he may hasten against us or wax exorbitant. 45 He said: Fear not, surely I am with you both: I do hear and see. 46 "So go ye both to him, and say, 'Verily we are messengers sent by thy Lord: Send forth, therefore, the Children of Israel with us, and afflict them not: with a Sign, indeed, have we come from thy Lord! and peace to all who follow guidance! 47 ‘It has indeed been revealed to us that the punishment is upon the one who denies and turns away.’” 48 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Who then, O Musa (Moses), is the Lord of you two?" 49 He replied: "Our Sustainer is He who gives unto every thing [that exists] its true nature and form, and thereupon guides it [towards its fulfilment]. 50 Said Firaun, “What is the state of the former generations?” 51 He said: The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a Record. My Lord neither erreth nor forgetteth, 52 Who hath appointed the earth as a bed and hath threaded roads for you therein and hath sent down water from the sky and thereby We have brought forth divers kinds of vegetation, 53 Eat and pasture your cattle; most surely there are signs in this for those endowed with understanding. 54
