And said the leaders of his people, who disbelieved and denied the confronting of the Hereafter – and We had given them comfort in the worldly life – that, “He is nothing but a human like you, he eats from what you eat and drinks from what you drink.” 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 Promiseth he unto you that ye, when ye have died and have become dust and bones, ye are to be brought forth? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which ye are promised! 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 He is nothing but a man who attributes his own lying inventions to God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 Answered (the Lord): "They shall wake up repenting soon." 40 So the punishment overtook them in justice, and We made them as rubbish; so away with the unjust people. 41 AND AFTER them We gave rise to new generations: 42 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Whenever a Messenger came to his people they rejected him, calling him a liar. Thereupon, We made each people to follow the other (to its doom), reducing them to mere tales (of the past). Scourged be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk. 46 And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk are servile unto us? 47 So they rejected them, calling them liars, and they too eventually became of those that were destroyed. 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. 50
