Said the Council of the unbelievers of his people, who cried lies to the encounter of the world to come, and to whom We had given ease in the present' life, 'This is naught but a mortal like yourselves, who eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, then you will be losers. 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which ye are promised! 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 He is naught but a man who has forged against God a lie, and we will not believe him.' 38 He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me." 39 God said, "Before long they will be filled with regret." 40 Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk! 41 AND AFTER them We gave rise to new generations: 42 [for,] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [its coming]. 43 Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one another, and We made them bywords; so away with a people who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 'What' they said, 'are we to believe in two mortals like us, whose nation are our worshipers' 47 So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance. 49 And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs. 50
