“O Noble Messengers, eat good clean things, and do good deeds; I know all that you do.” 51 This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear. 52 But they (who claim to follow you) have torn their unity wide asunder, piece by piece, each group delighting in [but] what they themselves possess [by way of tenets]. 53 So leave thou them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Deem they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We enlarge them. 55 We are hastening to them of good things? Nay, they do not perceive. 56 Those who tremble in fear of their Lord, 57 And those who believe in the signs of their Lord – 58 who associate none with their Lord in His Divinity, 59 who give, whatever they give in charity, with their hearts trembling at the thought that they are destined to return to their Lord; 60 It is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein. 61 And We task not any soul except according to its capacity, and with Us is a book speaking with truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 Nay, but their hearts are in ignorance of this (Qur'an), and they have other works, besides, which they are doing; 63 Until, when We seize in Punishment those of them who received the good things of this world, behold, they will groan in supplication! 64 "Put a stop to your groaning now! Surely no help shall be provided to you from Us. 65 Our revelations had certainly been recited to you, but you turned your backs to them 66 and arrogantly mocked and reviled them. 67 Pondered they not over the Word? or came there unto them that which came not unto their fathers ancient? 68 Or do they not recognize their Messenger, and so deny him? 69 Or say they: There is a madness in him? Nay, but he bringeth them the Truth; and most of them are haters of the Truth. 70 Were the Truth to follow their desires, the order of the heavens and the earth and those who dwell in them would have been ruined. Nay, the fact is that We have brought to them their own remembrance; and yet it is from their own remembrance that they are turning away. 71 Or are you asking them for any reward? But the reward of your Lord is the best, for He is the Best of Providers, 72 Indeed you are calling them to a Straight Path, 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are deviating from that Way. 74 ۞ And even were We to show them mercy and remove whatever distress might befall them [in this life,] they would still persist in their overweening arrogance, blindly stumbling to and fro. 75 We had seized them with the punishment, but they did not bow before their Lord nor turned to Him in humility, 76 So that when at last We open up the gate of severe punishment on them they will be overwhelmed with despair. 77
