And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear and take heed?" 11 He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me, 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me. 14 Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. 15 Then come to Firon and say: Surely we are the apostles of the Lord of the worlds: 16 Then send with us the children of Israel. 17 The Pharaoh said, "Did we not bring you up in our home as an infant and did you not live with us for many years 18 "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates." 19 He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray. 20 So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. 21 "And this is the past favour with which you reproach me, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel." 22 Pharaoh said: And what is the Lord of the Worlds? 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." 24 (Pharaoh) said unto those around him: Hear ye not? 25 Musa (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers!" 26 (Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman! 27 He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you understand. 28 Pharaoh said, "If you take any deity other than myself, I will throw you into prison," 29 Said he: "Even if I should bring about before thee something that clearly shows the truth?" 30 (The Pharaoh) said: "Then bring it, if you speak the truth." 31 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. 32 And he drew forth his hand and lo! it was white to the beholders. 33
