And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 "Or do they benefit you or harm you?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, "Do you see these - the idols whom you worship?" 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 "And He will give me death, then resurrect me." 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 "And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity." 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed your Lord - only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
