And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
