And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
