And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
