Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
