Whatever misfortune befalls you is a consequence of your own deeds. But much of it He forgives. 30 Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper. 31 Among His signs are the ships sailing like mountains on the sea: 32 If He willeth He causeth the wind to cease so that they keep still on the back thereof; verily therein are signs for every patient, grateful person. 33 Or He causeth them to perish on account of that which they have earned - And He forgiveth much - 34 and that those who dispute concerning Our signs may know they have no asylum. 35 AND [remember that] whatever you are given [now] is but for the [passing] enjoyment of life in this world - whereas that which is with God is far better and more enduring. [It shall be given] to all who attain to faith and in their Sustainer place their trust; 36 who eschew grave sins and shameful deeds, and whenever they are angry, forgive; 37 who respond to their Lord and attend to their prayers; who conduct their affairs by mutual consultation and spend out of what We have provided for them; 38 And those who, when they are oppressed vindicate themselves. 39 The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) loveth not those who do wrong. 40 And whosoever helps himself after he has been wronged -- against them there is no way. 41 Reproach is only against those who oppress people, and wrongfully spread rebellion in the land; for them is a painful punishment. 42 But withal, if one is patient in adversity and forgives - this, behold, is indeed something to set one's heart upon! 43
