And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 no caring friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
