And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 no loyal friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
