And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
