Samood gave the lie to the apostles 141 When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear God? 142 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 143 So fear Allah and obey me. 144 "And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation." 145 Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death], 146 Within gardens and springs 147 and cornfields and date-palms laden with juicy fruits? 148 "And you carve out dwellings in the mountains, with skill?" 149 "Be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me, 150 Do not obey the order of the wasteful, 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and reform not." 152 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 153 You are a mere mortal like us. Show us a miracle if you are telling the Truth". 154 He said, "This is a she-camel. She will have her share of water as you have your share, each on a certain day. 155 so do her no harm, or the punishment of an awful day will befall you." 156 So they hamstrung her, and in the morning could only regret. 157 So the torment overtook them. Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 158 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 159
