Thamood, belied their Messengers. 141 when their brother Salih said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 142 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 143 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 144 And I ask of you no hire therefor; MY hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 145 Will you be left secure in this, 146 in the midst of gardens and fountains, 147 and cornfields and date-palms laden with juicy fruits? 148 Though ye hew out dwellings in the mountain, being skilful? 149 So fear Allah, and obey me. 150 and obey not the commandment of the prodigal 151 Who make mischief in the land and do not act aright. 152 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 153 you are no different from a mortal like us. So produce a sign if you are truthful." 154 He said, "Here is a she-camel. She shall have her turn of drinking, as you have yours, each on an appointed day, 155 And touch her not with ill, lest there take hold of you the torment of a Mighty Day. 156 So they hamstrung her, and in the morning could only regret. 157 So the punishment overtook them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 158 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 159

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
