The tribe of Thamud rejected the Messengers. 141 When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear God? 142 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 143 So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 I ask of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 145 Will you be left secure in what is here; 146 "Gardens and Springs, 147 and fields, and [these] palm-trees with slender spathes? 148 carving comfortable houses out of the mountains? 149 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 150 “And do not follow those who exceed the limits.” 151 those who spread corruption on earth instead of setting things to rights!" 152 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched! 153 you are no different from a mortal like us. So produce a sign if you are truthful." 154 He said, “This is the she-camel – one day shall be her turn to drink, and on the other appointed day, shall be your turn.” 155 "Touch her not with harm, lest the Penalty of a Great Day seize you." 156 But they hamstrung her and so became regretful. 157 and torment struck them. In this there is evidence of the Truth, yet many people do not have any faith. 158 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 159
