The folk of Lot denied the messengers (of Allah), 160 Recall, when their brother Lot said to them: "Have you no fear? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 Do you, of all people, approach males, 165 "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!" 166 Said they: "Indeed, If thou desist not, O Lot, thou wilt most certainly be expelled [from this township]!" 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 "My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 save an old woman among those that tarried; 171 We then destroyed the others. 172 And We rained on them a rain. And dreadful is the rain of those who have been warned. 173 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 174 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and powerful. 175
