The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lut said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 161 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 162 Have fear of God and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 "Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said: "If you cease not. O Lout (Lot)! Verily, you will be one of those who are driven out!" 167 He said: "I do detest your doings." 168 My Lord, save me and my family from their evil doings." 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 then We totally destroyed the rest, 172 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 175
