The dwellers of the thicket gave the lie to the apostles. 176 Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? 177 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 178 I ask of you no wage for this; 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who give less (than the due). 181 Weigh your goods with proper balance 182 And do not wrong men of their things, and do not act corruptly in the earth, making mischief. 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 185 "You are but a human being like us and verily, we think that you are one of the liars! 186 Then drop down on us lumps from heaven, if thou art one of the truthful.' 187 He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do." 188 They rejected him and then the torment of the gloomy day struck them. It was certainly a great torment. 189 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 190 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 191
