A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 He said: In a little while they will most certainly be repenting. 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 Then, after them, We created other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and a clear authority 45 To Firon and his chiefs, but they behaved haughtily and they were an insolent people. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 And We made Mary's son, and his mother, a Sign, and We gave them refuge on a lofty ground, a peaceful site with springs flowing in it. 50
