He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
