And most surely this is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. 192 Which the trusted spirit descended with 193 To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish. 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 But [even] had We bestowed it from on high upon any of the non-Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 In this wise have We made way for it into the hearts of the culprits. 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not. 202 They will therefore say, “Will we get some respite?” 203 Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on? 204 Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years, 205 then there comes on them that they were promised, 206 Of what avail shall their enjoyment be to them? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 By way of reminder; and We never are unjust. 209 The satans did not bring down this (Clear Book), 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. 213 And warn [whomever thou canst reach, beginning with] thy kinsfolk, 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 And rely thou upon the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 and sees your movements among those who prostrate themselves: 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every forgerer steeped in sin, 222 They listen, but most of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 Except those who believed and did good deeds, and profusely remembered Allah, and took revenge after they had been wronged*; and soon the unjust will come to know upon which side they will be overturned**. (* The Muslim poets who praise Allah and the Prophet. ** The disbelievers will be punished.) 227
Almighty God's Truth.
