Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 And indeed it is mentioned in the earlier Books. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We cause (unbelief) to enter the hearts of sinners. 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 Do they want to hasten Our torment? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 And afterwards comes to them that (punishment) which they had been promised! 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 We never destroyed a village that did not have warners 208 We have never been unjust to anyone. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it. 212 So do not call upon another god with Allah, lest you should be one of those who are punished. 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 and be kind to your believing followers. 215 but if they disobey thee, say: "I am free of responsibility for aught that you may do!" 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the Satans come down? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 who readily lend ear [to every falsehood,] and most of whom lie to others as well. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Have you not seen how they wander in every valley, 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
