And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish. 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 Was it not a sign for them known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 And if we had revealed it to any of the foreigners 198 And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful torment; 201 So that it will come upon them suddenly, when they perceive not. 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years, 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 We never destroyed a village that did not have warners 208 To remind, and We are never unjust. 209 The satans did not bring down this (Clear Book), 210 they are not supposed to do so. Nor do have they the ability for such a task. 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 So call thou not upon another god with God, lest thou shouldst be one of those that are chastised. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 And be kind to him who follows you of the believers. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 And put thy trust in the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up (to pray) 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 [And] shall I tell you upon whom it is that those evil spirits descend? 221 They descend on every sinful, false one. 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 and preaching what they themselves never practice. 226 Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take! 227
True are the words of God the Almighty.
