The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 Do people think that they are left alone by saying: 'We are believers' and will not be tried? 2 We certainly tried those who have gone before them, so God will certainly distinguish between those who are truthful and those who are lying. 3 Do the evil-doers think they can escape Us? How terrible is their judgment? 4 Whoever expects to meet Allah – then indeed the time appointed by Allah will come; and He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 5 And if any strive (with might and main), they do so for their own souls: for Allah is free of all needs from all creation. 6 as for those who have faith and do good works, We shall certainly cleanse them of their evil deeds and reward them according to the best of their actions. 7 We have enjoined on man kindness to parents: but if they (either of them) strive (to force) thee to join with Me (in worship) anything of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not. Ye have (all) to return to me, and I will tell you (the truth) of all that ye did. 8 And those who believe and work righteous deeds,- them shall We admit to the company of the Righteous. 9 Now there is among men many a one who says [of himself and of others like him,] "We do believe in God" - but whenever he is made to suffer in God's cause, he thinks that persecution at the hands of man is as [much to be feared, or even more than,] God's chastisement; whereas, if succour from thy Sustainer comes [to those who truly believe] he is sure to say: "Behold, we have always been with you!" Is not God fully aware of what is in the hearts of all creatures? 10 And most certainly Allah will know those who believe and most certainly He will know the hypocrites. 11 The unbelievers say to those who believe: 'Follow our path, and we will carry your sins' Yet they cannot carry even a thing of their sins. They are surely lying. 12 And surely they shall bear their loads and other loads beside their own loads, and surely they shall be questioned on the Day of Resurrection concerning that which they were wont to fabricate. 13
