And a sign for them is the dead earth; We gave it life and We produced from it grain, so they eat from it. 33 And there We made gardens of palms and vines, and in it We caused fountains to gush forth, 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof; and their hands worked it not. Will they not, therefore, give thanks? 35 Limitless in His glory is He who has created opposites in whatever the earth produces, and in men's own selves, and in that of which [as yet] they have no knowledge. 36 And a sign to them is the night: We draw forth from it the day, then lo! they are in the dark; 37 And the sun runs his course for a period determined for him: that is the decree of (Him), the Exalted in Might, the All-Knowing. 38 And the moon, We have measured for it mansions (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk. 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit. 40 And a token unto them is that We bear their offspring in the laden ship, 41 And We have created for them the like of it in which they board. 42 And if We should will, We could drown them; then no one responding to a cry would there be for them, nor would they be saved 43 Unless by mercy from Us and as comfort for a while. 44 When it is said to them: "Beware of what is before you and what is past, that you may be treated with kindness;" 45 And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they are from it turning away. 46 And when it is said to them: "Spend of that with which Allah has provided you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Shall we feed those whom, if Allah willed, He (Himself) would have fed? You are only in a plain error." 47 And they say: When will this promise be fulfilled, if ye are truthful? 48 They await not but one shout, which shall lay hold of them while they are yet wrangling. 49 Then they will be unable to make a will, nor shall they return to their kinsmen. 50
