And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat. 33 And We place therein gardens of the date-palms and vines; and We therein cause to gush forth springs. 34 so that they may eat of the fruit thereof, though it was not their hands that made it. Will they not, then, be grateful? 35 Glory be to Him Who created all the sexual pairs, of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves, and of that which they know not! 36 And a sign for them is the night; We strip it of the day and lo, they are in darkness. 37 And the sun -- it runs to a fixed resting-place; that is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing. 38 And the moon! For it We have decreed mansions till it reverteth like the old branch of a palm-tree. 39 Neither does it lie in the sun's power to overtake the moon nor can the night outstrip the day. All glide along, each in its own orbit. 40 And a token unto them is that We bear their offspring in the laden ship, 41 and [that] We create for them things of a similar kind, on which they may embark [in their travels]; 42 And if We please, We can drown them, then there shall be no succorer for them, nor shall they be rescued 43 Unless by mercy from Us and as comfort for a while. 44 And when it is said to them, 'Fear what is before you and what is behind you; haply you will find mercy' -- 45 And never came an Ayah from among the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it. 46 When they are told: "Spend of what God has given you," the unbelievers say to those who believe: "Why should we feed those whom God should have fed if He pleased?" You are only in palpable error. 47 They say: “When will this threat (of Resurrection) come to pass? Tell us if indeed you are truthful.” 48 They await but one Shout, which will seize them while they dispute. 49 Therefore neither able to make a will, nor returning to their homes. 50
