A Sign for them is the earth that is dead: We do give it life, and produce grain therefrom, of which ye do eat. 33 and produced therein grains from which they eat and established therein gardens of palms trees and vineyards and have made streams flow therein 34 so that they may eat its fruit, though it was not their hands that made this. Will they not then be grateful? 35 Glory be to Him Who created all the sexual pairs, of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves, and of that which they know not! 36 Of the signs for them is how We separated the day from the night and thus they remained in darkness; 37 The sun is running its course to its appointed place. That is the ordaining of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing. 38 and [in] the moon, for which We have determined phases [which it must traverse] till it becomes like an old date-stalk, dried-up and curved: 39 Neither is it allowable to the sun that it should overtake the moon, nor can the night outstrip the day; and all float on in a sphere. 40 And a sign unto them is that We bear their offspring in a laden ship. 41 And have created for them of the like thereof whereon they ride. 42 Should We so wish, We can drown them, and there will be none to heed their cries of distress, nor will they be rescued. 43 Unless it be a mercy from Us, and as an enjoyment for a while. 44 And [yet,] when they are told, "Beware of [God's insight into] all that lies open before you and all that is hidden from you, so that you might be graced with His mercy," [most men choose to remain deaf;] 45 Indeed, not one of your Lord's signs comes to them without their turning away from it, 46 When they are told to spend for the cause of God out of what He has provided for them for their sustenance, the disbelievers say to the believers, "Should we feed those whom God has decided to feed? You are in plain error." 47 And they say: "When will this promise (i.e. Resurrection) be fulfilled, if you are truthful?" 48 They are only waiting for a single blast that will seize them, but they will go on contending. 49 Then they would not be able to make a will, or go back to their people. 50
