۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 They will turn to one another with questions: 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
