۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Nay! he (Muhammad SAW) has come with the truth (i.e. Allah's Religion - Islamic Monotheism and this Quran) and he confirms the Messengers (before him who brought Allah's religion - Islamic Monotheism). 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps. 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
