۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 What, do we then not die 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
