۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
