۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 What then, shall we not die 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps. 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
