S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 Those who deny the truth are steeped in arrogance and hostility. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. 3 Now they marvel that a warner has come to them from among them; and the unbelievers say, 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 Has he made the gods one single God? This is truly astounding.” 5 Their assembly left (saying): 'Go, and be patient to your gods, this is something to be desired. 6 We have heard nothing like this in the latest religion. This is only his own false invention. 7 What, has the Remembrance been sent down on him out of us all?' Nay, but they are in doubt of My Remembrance; nay, they have not yet tasted My chastisement. 8 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord, the Most Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or [that] the dominion over the heavens and the earth and all that is between them is theirs? Why, then, let them try to ascend [to God-like power] by all [conceivable] means! 10 A defeated host are (all) the factions that are there. 11 Before them, the people of Nooh had denied, and the tribe of A’ad, and Firaun who used to crucify. 12 And Thamud, and the people of Lout (Lot), and the dwellers of the wood; such were the confederates. 13 There was not one of those that did not belie the Messengers. Therefore, My retribution was realized. 14
