These are only awaiting for a single Cry, to which there is no delay. 15 They say: "Our Lord! Hasten on for us our fate before the Day of Reckoning." 16 Be patient over what they say and remember Our servant, David, the possessor of strength; indeed, he was one who repeatedly turned back [to Allah]. 17 Indeed We subjected the hills to say the praise with him, at night and at morn. 18 We made the birds assemble around him in flocks. 19 And We strengthened his dominion, and bestowed upon him wisdom and sagacity in judgment. 20 ۞ And hath the tidings of the contending parties reached thee, when they walled the apartment? 21 When they entered upon David, so he feared them – they said, “Do not fear! We are two disputants, one of whom has wronged the other, therefore judge fairly between us and do not judge unjustly – and show us the right way.” 22 “This is my brother; he has ninety nine ewes and I have one ewe; and he now says ‘Give that one also to me’ – and he is very demanding in speech.” 23 [Dawud (David)] said (immediately without listening to the opponent): "He has wronged you in demanding your ewe in addition to his ewes. And, verily, many partners oppress one another, except those who believe and do righteous good deeds, and they are few." And Dawud (David) guessed that We have tried him and he sought Forgiveness of his Lord, and he fell down prostrate and turned (to Allah) in repentance. ۩ 24 Accordingly We forgave him that, and he has a near place in Our presence and a fair resort. 25 We said, "David, We have given you mastery over the land. Judge fairly between people. Do not follow your desires, lest they divert you from God's path: those who wander from His path will have a severe punishment, because they ignore the Day of Reckoning." 26
