And We did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them aimlessly. That is the assumption of those who disbelieve, so woe to those who disbelieve from the Fire. 27 Shall We make those who believe and work righteous works like unto the corrupters in the earth; or shall We make the God-fearing like unto the wicked! 28 It is a blessed Book which We have revealed for you so that you will reflect upon its verses and so the people of understanding will take heed. 29 And We bestowed on David, Solomon. How excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (toward Allah). 30 [and even] when, towards the close of day, nobly-bred, swift-footed steeds were brought before him, 31 Then he said: Surely I preferred the good things to the remembrance of my Lord-- until the sun set and time for Asr prayer was over, (he said): 32 Bring them back unto me; and he set about slashing their legs and necks. 33 Indeed, We tried Solomon and placed a body (of a child) upon his throne, then he repented. 34 Saying: "O Lord, forgive me, and give me such a dominion as none will merit after me. You are the great bestower." 35 Then We subjected the wind to his power, to flow gently to his order, Whithersoever he willed,- 36 And made the demons subservient to him, all builders and divers. 37 And other demons bound in chains. 38 'This is Our gift; bestow or withhold without reckoning.' 39 Indeed an exalted position of nearness awaits him and an excellent resort. 40
