Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HA MIM. 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 A Book whose verses have been distinguished and explained, a lucid discourse for people who understand, 3 A bearer of glad tidings and a warner. Yet most of them turn aside, so that they hearken not. 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 Tell them, (O Prophet): “I am only a human being like you. It is revealed to me that your God is One God; so direct yourselves straight to Him, and seek His forgiveness. Woe to those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity, 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 Lo! as for those who believe and do good works, for them is a reward enduring. 8
