And We gave Moses the Book; and there was difference concerning it, and but for a Word that preceded from thy Lord, it had been decided between them; and they are in doubt of it disquieting. 45 Whosoever worketh righteously it is for his soul, and whosoever worketh evil it is against it. And thine Lord is not an oppressor unto His bondmen. 46 ۞ It is He who has the knowledge of the Hour of Doom and the fruits that will come out of their covering. He knows what the females conceive and deliver. On the day when the unbelievers will be asked, "Where are the idols which you considered equal to God?," they will reply, "We declare that none of us have seen them". 47 And those to whom they used to cry of old have failed them, and they perceive they have no place of refuge. 48 Man never tires of asking for the good things of life; but if evil fortune befalls him, he abandons all hope, giving himself up to despair. 49 And if We make him taste Our mercy after the hardship which befell him, he will say, “This is mine! And I do not think that the Last Day will ever be established – and even if I am returned to my Lord, with Him is only goodness for me”; so We shall indeed inform the disbelievers of what they did; and We shall indeed make them taste a solid punishment. 50 And too, when We bestow Our blessings upon man, he tends to turn aside and keep aloof [from remembering Us]; but as soon as evil fortune touches him, he is full of wordy prayers! 51 Say: 'What think you? If it is from God, then you disbelieve in it, who is further astray than he who is in wide schism?' 52 We will show them Our Signs in the universe, and in their ownselves, until it becomes manifest to them that this (the Quran) is the truth. Is it not sufficient in regard to your Lord that He is a Witness over all things? 53 How! Are they still in doubt about the meeting with their Lord? Lo! Is not He surrounding all things? 54
