Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 That We made it a distinctly lucid Qur'an that you may understand. 3 And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 no Prophet came to them except that they mocked him, 7 We therefore destroyed the people who were more forceful than these, and the example of the earlier ones has already gone by. 8 Yet if you were to ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they will certainly say: “The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing has created them.” 9 Who has made the earth a cradle for you and made thereon paths for you so that, hopefully, you may find your way 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 so that when you are mounted upon them you may remember the bounty of your Lord, and say: “Glory be to Him Who has subjected this to Us whereas we did not have the strength to subdue it. 13 And verily unto our Lord we are to return. 14 And from* His bondmen, they appointed a portion for Him; man is indeed an open ingrate.
