Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha-Mim 1 I call to witness the lucent Book, 2 We have indeed sent it as a Qur’an in the Arabic language, so that you may understand. 3 And the Qur’an is undoubtedly, in the Original Book with Us, surely the exalted, full of wisdom. 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 And how many a prophet We sent among the ancients. 6 But never did a prophet come at whom they did not scoff. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier than these; such was the example of the earlier peoples. 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 (Yea, the same that) has made for you the earth (like a carpet) spread out, and has made for you roads (and channels) therein, in order that ye may find guidance (on the way); 10 And He Who sends down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We raise to life thereby a dead country, even thus shall you be brought forth; 11 And Who hath treated the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you from ships and cattle things whereon ye ride. 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" 14 Yet they attribute to some of His servants a share with Him (in his godhead)! truly is man a blasphemous ingrate avowed! 15
