And recall what time Ibrahim said unto his father and his people: verily I am quit of that which ye worship. 26 None [do I worship] but Him who has brought me into being: and behold, it is He who will guide me!" 27 This is the legacy he left to his descendants so that they may turn (to God). 28 Nay, but I gave (the good things of this life) to these (polytheists) and their fathers to enjoy, till there came to them the truth (the Quran), and a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) making things clear. 29 But when the Truth came to them, they said: "This is sorcery, and we do reject it." 30 They also said: "Why was this Qur'an not sent down to some great man of the two cities?" 31 Is it they who distribute the Mercy of your Lord? It is We Who have distributed their livelihood among them in the life of this world, and have raised some above others in rank that some of them may harness others to their service. Your Lord's Mercy is better than all the treasures that they hoard. 32 And were it not that mankind would be one nation, We would have appointed for those who disbelieve in the All-merciful roofs of silver to their houses, and stairs whereon to mount, 33 And silver doors for their houses, and silver couches whereon they recline, 34 And ornaments of gold. But all this would have been nothing but the vanity of this world. The Hereafter with your Lord is for those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path. 35
