۞ When the son of Mary is mentioned as an example, your people turn away from it 57 and say: "Which is better - our deities or he?" [But] it is only in the spirit of dispute that they put this comparison before thee: yea, they are contentious folk! 58 He was no more than a servant (of Ours), one upon whom We bestowed Our favours and whom We made an example (of Our infinite power) for the Children of Israel. 59 If We pleased We could have put angels in place of you as trustees on the earth. 60 It is the knowledge of the Hour. Have no doubt concerning it, and follow me. This is a Straight Path, 61 Let not the Evil One hinder you: for he is to you an enemy avowed. 62 And when Isa came with clear arguments he said: I have come to you indeed with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you part of what you differ in; so be careful of (your duty to) Allah and obey me: 63 Allah is my Lord and your Lord; therefore, serve Him. That is the Straight Way.” 64 Yet the parties differed among themselves. So woe to those who did evil among the punishment of a Painful Day. 65 Are they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they perceive not? 66 On that Day close friends shall become enemies of each other, except those who fear (Allah). 67
