۞ And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud. 57 and say: "Which is better - our deities or he?" [But] it is only in the spirit of dispute that they put this comparison before thee: yea, they are contentious folk! 58 (Jesus) was only a creature whom We favoured and made an example for the children of Israel. 59 And had We willed We could have appointed angels born of you in the earth to succeed each other. 60 And verily he is a sign of the Hour wherefore dubitate not thereof, and follow Me: this is the straight path. 61 Let satan not prevent you from the right path. He is your sworn enemy". 62 When Jesus came with clear signs, he said, "Now I have come to you with wisdom, in order to make clear to you some of the things about which you dispute: therefore fear God and obey me. 63 Verily Allah! He is my lord and your Lord, so worship Him: this is the straight path. 64 Then the sects differed among themselves. Woe then unto those who do Wrong because of the torment of an afflictive Day. 65 Do they only wait for the Hour that it shall come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not? 66 The friends shall on that day be enemies one to another, except those who guard (against evil). 67
