۞ And when the son of Mary is quoted as an example, behold! the folk laugh out, 57 And they said, "Are your gods better, or is he?" They did not present the comparison except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute. 58 (Jesus) was only a creature whom We favoured and made an example for the children of Israel. 59 If We pleased We could have put angels in place of you as trustees on the earth. 60 (Muhammad), tell them, "Jesus is a sign of the Hour of Doom. Have no doubt about it and follow me; this is the straight path. 61 Let not the Evil One hinder you: for he is to you an enemy avowed. 62 NOW WHEN Jesus came [to his people] with all evidence of the truth, he said: "I have now come unto you with wisdom, and to make clear unto you some of that on which you are at variance: hence, be conscious of God, and pay heed unto me. 63 “Allah is indeed my Lord, and yours therefore worship Him; this is the Straight Path.” 64 But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement: then woe to the wrong-doers, from the Penalty of a Grievous Day! 65 Await they aught save the Hour, that it shall come upon them suddenly, when they know not? 66 Friends on that day will be foes, one to another,- except the Righteous. 67
