Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and the burden-bearers 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 then by the distributors (angels), ordered; 4 Verily that wherewith ye are threatened is surely true. 5 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 and asked for forgiveness in the early morning. 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 and in your selves; what, do you not see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
