Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 Then those (angels who) distribute blessings by Our command; 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 You are surely caught in contradictions., 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Indeed the pious are among Gardens and water springs. 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, 20 and also in yourselves. Can you not see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
