Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 And the clouds bearing a load. 2 which then smoothly speed along, 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 Those who (flounder) heedless in a flood of confusion: 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten. 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 They shall receive what their Lord will bestow on them. They have done good works in the past, 16 They used to sleep but little in the night. 17 And every morning asked forgiveness, 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth! it is most surely the truth, just as you do speak. 23
