Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those [winds] scattering [dust] dispersing 1 which carry clouds laden with water, 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 your ideas are confused. 8 Through which are deluded (away from the Truth) such as would be deluded. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask: When is the day of judgment? 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 So by oath of the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this Qur’an is the Truth, in the same language that you speak. 23
