Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And the clouds bearing a load. 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 Turned aside therefrom (i.e. from Muhammad SAW and the Quran) is he who is turned aside (by the Decree and Preordainment of Allah). 9 Woe to the liars 10 who flounder in the depths of ignorance. 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 'Taste your trial! This is that you were seeking to hasten.' 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 And in the dawns they prayed for forgiveness. 18 They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute. 19 For those with sure belief there are signs in the earth, 20 And in your own selves; so can you not perceive? 21 There is in the heavens your sustenance, and whatever has been promised you. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as true as your speech. 23
